Yoshiki's under the sky project
December 21, 2023
It is with a heavy heart and a tear-streaked face that we bring you the most unfortunate news. Our dear friend, the man behind the drum kit, the rhythm of our hearts, James Kottak, has decided to take his drumsticks and march to a different beat. For 20 years, his beats were the backbone of our music, his hi-hats and cymbals the punctuation to our melodic sentences.
James, with his ever-present cheeky grin, was more than just a drummer. He was a jester in the court of our musical kingdom, always ready with a quick quip or a silly face to lighten the mood. His drum solos were legendary, a whirlwind of arms and sticks that seemed impossible to follow. And yet, there was always method in his madness, a steady rhythm that kept us grounded.
His departure leaves a void that can never be filled. His drum kit stands silent, a poignant reminder of the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. We will miss his offbeat humor, his infectious energy, and, of course, his unrivaled talent behind the drums.
But let’s not dwell on the sadness. James wouldn’t want that. He’d want us to remember the good times, the laughter, the music. He’d want us to keep playing, keep creating, keep the rhythm alive. So, let’s raise a toast to James Kottak, the drummer, the jester, the friend. Here’s to the beats he played, the smiles he inspired, and the memories he left us with.
So, as we say goodbye to James, we do so with a smile on our faces and a beat in our hearts. For even though he may have left our band, his rhythm will forever resonate in our music. Farewell, James Kottak. Keep drumming, wherever you are.
