Why We’re Famous

It’s not a question you normally ask a superstar. So why does it come up so often with Günther and Hermann Skibbutz? We asked them between takes of their last video shoot, where a blizzard of assistants preparing a wedding were clashing with Skibbutz’ small film crew.

“Famous?” said Hermann, “I don’t think of myself as famous, at least not very often. It might happen if I look in a mirror, then I think hey there’s that famous guy, but it’s only a face. I believe I am more than that.”

Günther’s response was less candid. “Fame is a reality distortion field that affects internal wiring. We have learned to re-patch some of these changes to bypass feedback loops and self-oscillation.” When asked if he enjoyed being famous, he replied, “It’s like having bad hair but good body one day then the opposite the next. You can never tell.”

But why are you famous? “Because,” said Hermann, “we are excellent at what we do. And what we do is strive for excellence.”
